School group visits
Enhance and expand upon classroom teaching with a visit to York. The city with 2000 years of history is the ideal destination for either a day visit for younger children or a longer stay with older pupils.
Our Specialist Groups & Schools Desk can assist and advise with the organisation of your visit. This includes the booking of suitable accommodation, assist with transport and parking queries, liase with and book Tour Guides who will plan a walking tour suitable to the age and needs of each group.
York can offer a range of safe secure dormitory style accommodation within the city offering good home cooking with packed lunches available. A wide range of evening activities are available from brass rubbing for those staying at Lady Anne Middleton's, book an early evening ghost walk at the Dungeon or burn off excess energy on the brand new adventure playground at Creepy crawlies.
York’s leading attractions all have a series of well structured workshops linking with various key stages of the national curriculum. For more information please email education@york-tourism.co.uk or telephone 01904 550080 or download our Key Stage information pack.
All of the cities leading attractions are easily accessible on foot and within walking distance of each other. Several attractions offer facilities enabling schools time and space to enjoy packed lunches.
