day 1

Travel North from York into James Herriot Country and discover the 1950s home of this famous vet at the World of James Herriot in Thirsk.
Climb Sutton Bank to reach Duncombe Park and the lovely market town of Helmsley. Head into the North Yorkshire Moors to Pickering.
Take a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway - moving into Heartbeat Country. Enjoy 18 miles of stunning scenery in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, stopping at picturesque stations such as Goathland and Grosmont en route.
Return to York via Eden Camp, the renowned prisoner of war camp at Malton or for the ultimate in homes a visit to Castle Howard.
Day 2

Travel the coastal route and head for Whitby for a fish and chip lunch and a breath of sea air, this quaint fishing village is overlooked by its Abbey and can also boast strong connections with Count Dracula! Not to mention its superb Captain Cook Museum.
Enjoy the coastal scenery on the way via Robin Hoods Bay towards Scarborough.
A great family day can be had by all at the Scarborough Sealife Centre.
Day 3
